Mushroom  popcorn with honey garlic sauce


Ingredients

  • Button mushrooms stemmed and quartered 16-20 small

  • Onion powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Paprika a pinch

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons

  • Lemon juice 2 teaspoons

  • Refined flour (maida) ½ cup

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Bread crumbs panko 1 cup

  • Honey 2 table spoon 
  • Garlic 2 tea spoon 
  • Paprika 2tea spoon

Method

Put mushrooms in a bowl. Add onion powder, salt, paprika, crushed peppercorns, ginger-garlic paste and lemon juice and mix well. Set aside to marinate for ten to fifteen minutes.

Put half the flour in another bowl. Add salt and some water and whisk to make a thick slurry.

Heat sufficient oil in a pan.

Dust the marinated mushrooms with the remaining flour, dip in the slurry and coat with breadcrumbs.

Deep-fry the mushroom popcorns in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Make sauce

Heat the oil in a pan add garlic , paprika wait for while.

Add honey and water to make sauce simmer for 2 minutes .

Add mushroom and simmer for 2 minutes.

Add the spring onions for garnish.

Serve hot.
